The major objectives of a subcutaneous mastectomy for male gynecomastia are reconstruction of the male chest contour and histological clarification of suspicious breast lesions. Several types of skin incisions are used in surgery for
gynecomastia,
but
none is compatible with good operative results. A new method, the lower crescent incision, has been developed to minimize postoperative hematoma, eschar formation, hypesthesia, necrosis, and skin contracture and to reduce recurrence.
